Holocene — a collective of travelers and creatives

Founder, Storyteller

Nathaniel Boyle

Founder of Holocene, speaker and storyteller, and a lifelong traveler who fell in love with the road early.

From the fortunate age of five, Nathaniel fell in love with travel for its ability to inspire and transform the self. He consciously built a creative entrepreneurial career as a speaker and storyteller that has afforded him the ability to travel, explore, learn, and share.

A career built around stories

Nathaniel has a profound love of solo travel, and he is also a husband to an amazingly supportive woman and the father of a beautiful baby girl. Those two loves sit at the center of how he thinks about exploration and the life he wants to live.

He built Holocene as a global membership platform encouraging and empowering the curious and creative to live their stories and find personal change — a place for storytellers, wanderers, seekers, and nomads to explore the world and themselves, and to share what they find one story at a time, together.

You can read more about the collective's mission and vision on the About Holocene page, or explore the meaning behind the name on the Name page.

Holocene is built on the idea that a life of travel and a life of making things belong together. The collective gathers creative travelers who treat movement as a form of learning, letting each journey shape the stories they tell and the work they build. Here, sharing is not a performance but a habit: people swap reflections, trade hard-won lessons, and offer the kind of encouragement that makes the next leap feel possible. Whether someone is planning a first long trip or returning from years on the road, the door stays open, and the welcome stays warm.

The toolkit behind this community is deliberately simple. Stories, podcasts, and honest commentary sit alongside practical guidance for building a creative career that can move with you, so that adventure and livelihood stop competing for the same hours. There is room for the practical and the poetic both: notes on logistics, reflections on fearlessness, and conversations about what it means to stay curious when plans change. Nothing here pretends the road is easy, but everything here assumes it is worth taking, and that no one has to take it alone.

What holds it together is attention to the human side of travel. The people who gather here care about details, about the small decisions that turn a trip into a memory, and about the courage it takes to leave the familiar behind. They bring a brisk, generous energy to the collective, blending a love of the outdoors with a love of ideas, and treating every new place as an invitation to grow. The result feels less like a magazine and more like a shared table, where experience is passed around freely and everyone leaves a little more alive.
